  Just joined the group today also. I am a FTM disfellowshipped in 2000 for undergoing gender reassignment. You can read my story on www.transsexual-witnesses-of-jehovah.org so I don’t spend half the day talking about my history. I recently set the site up for ones just like us.
  
  Your immigration dilemma is definitely one to be taken with caution. Things like this are very expensive. I just married on the 24th of December to a Malaysian citizen and we can’t apply for a spouse visa due to not having $2000AUST straight up plus all the limitations that go with either a visa applied in or outside Australia. In the meantime she will be spending many months in Malaysia before I see her again. It is a big mess but fortunately I have some good legal advice from those who know the ins and outs.
